Make Sure Comfort and Fit When Choosing Glasses Frames

Here are some key areas to check out to make sure the glasses frames you choose will be comfortable and fit well. yanjing

Firstly, you should make sure that the temples don't dig into the side of your head, make sure the frames are wide enough for your face. The edge of the frames should protrude slightly beyond your face so that the temples don't touch your head as they extend back to your ears.

Next, make sure the temples are long enough. Opticians can order many styles in a variety of temple lengths. The curve at the end of the temple should extend over the ear without pressing down upon it. The optician can reshape and adjust the curve at the end of the temple when your pick your eyeglasses up, but can't make the temples shorter or longer, so make sure you select the best length.

Also check the nosepiece for comfort and fit. Many glasses have adjustable nose pads for fine-tuning, with soft, silicon nose pads. For frames without adjustable nose pads, make sure the fit is secure without pinching your bridge.

When you try on the frames, move your head up and down, bend over and pick up something from the floor and see how well your glasses stay in place. With the properly adjusted nose pads and temples, your glasses should stay in place without pressing on your face.

When Men Choose Their Glasses

Comfort, fit and durability rank high with men when it comes to choosing their glasses. While men are concerned with style, they won't forsake comfort and fit just to look good. Men have their own tastes, but may be their wife, girlfriend or someone significant who will influence their final choice of style or color of the frame.

About 88 percent of the respondents to a survey by The Vision Council (A recent study of Americans aged 35 to 64 by Vision Council of America, now named The Vision Council.) indicated that the comfort and fit of the eyeglasses was the most important factor in choosing eyeglass frames, while 59 percent said that the durability of the eyeglasses was most important. When asked what adds value to their eyewear choice, 52 percent of the survey respondents said that spring hinges (which prevent you from stretching the fit of your eyeglasses) are most important. About half said frames that are flexible and bend so they won't break easily are most important.

Contrary to popular belief, men care about how they look. And it’s no different when they pick out eyewear. Men’s eyeglass frames not only have to be functional and fit but they have to be fashionable, too. The good news is that eyewear manufacturers have caught on. There are plenty of choices in men’s glasses frames for the man that not only wants to see but to be seen, as well.

Eye Glasses and Contact Lenses

There are two types of lenses prescribed for correcting or improving vision. They are: eyeglasses and contact lenses.

Eyeglasses are also called spectacles, they are the most common form of eyewear to correct or improve vision problem with a frame that holds two pieces of glass or plastic, which have been ground into lenses to correct refractive errors. Refractive errors can include nearsightedness or myopia (difficulty seeing far away), farsightedness or hyperopia (difficulty seeing close up), and astigmatism (blurring due to an irregularly shaped cornea). Eyeglasses perform this function by adding or subtracting focusing power to the eye’s cornea and lens.

A contact lens is a corrective, cosmetic, or therapeutic lens usually placed on the cornea of the eye, usually serve the same corrective purpose as glasses, but are lightweight and virtually invisible—many commercial lenses are tinted a faint blue to make them more visible when immersed in cleaning and storage solutions. Some cosmetic lenses are deliberately colored to alter the appearance of the eye. You can choose to wear a pair of glasses or a contact lens according to your actual situation and requirement.

Your Eyes Need Exercise

Eyes, just like the rest of your body need physical activity to maintain health, prevent from deterioration, and to overcome damage that may have already taken place.
Your eyes are the direct visual link to the world around you. They let you see the beauty of nature, the sadness of strife and the joys on the faces of beloved. Natural healthy eyes are constantly on the move searching and scanning to keep us aware of pleasures and dangers.
However, today's modern indoor lifestyle of reading, television, and computers, forces our eyes to unnaturally strain to adjust focus and not move freely as they should. This is known as near point stress and may result in headaches, eyestrain and reduced vision.

Frankly, I have near-straightedness and a little astigmatism when I was a little girl, that’s because of my incorrect learning and living habits. I couldn’t see what’s on the blackboard and my grades began to fall down. My father took me to see an eye-doctor and he prescribed some medicine and asked me to do some exercise to release eyestrain every two hours in my school. I took his advice and do what he told me every day. Although my visual acuity didn’t seem to ascend and I had to wear glasses, my vision never falls down again. This is what I have experienced so I agree with researches which show that some effective exercise has great impact on your eyes health. You can do what you like as long as your eyes feel released, even if you only close your eyes and do nothing.

Here’s an easy exercise: eye rotations.
Pretend your eyes are going around a clock. Look at a spot straight ahead, then look straight up to an imaginary 12 o'clock position and hold for two to three seconds and then look at a spot straight ahead. Then look towards the 1 o'clock position and hold for two or three seconds then look straight ahead again. Continue looking straight ahead and then look towards the 2 o'clock, the 3 o'clock, and other numbers on the imaginary clock. After you have gone "around" the clock clockwise, then go counter-clockwise and repeat. Also try to go around the clock with your eyes closed.

There are many more eye exercises you can do, but these exercises will start your eyes moving again and ultimately result in strong healthy eyes. Whether you are wearing eyeglasses with nearsighted, farsighted, suffer from astigmatism, or declining vision as you age, eye exercises can benefit you much.
